There is a full day of events with the Gap2Gap Relay and Junior Gap2Gap during the day and Rock the Gap during the evening.
Saturday's activities start early for the racers. The first competitors go out at 7:45AM and continue in waves until 9:30. Adult Iron and Elite racers will travel the Greenway, the Yakima River, the north ridge, and the roads of East Valley on the 5-leg course. Adult Sport racers travel a slightly shorter 5-leg course that features a rollerblading leg instead of kayaking. Junior racers will complete a course in Sarg Hubbard Park and along the Greenway. If you're not racing, come down to Sarg Hubbard Park during the day and cheer on the racers – or volunteer for one of the races. To volunteer, call 453-8280. Cost $22-$45 depending on categorie.
Rock the Gap is a fun post-race party for racers and non-racers alike. Beginning with a cocktail hour and silent auction at 5:30, followed by a salmon dinner and live music by Redwood Son and Ben Union, this is the perfect way to kick off the summer season.
Funds raised by Gap2Gap benefit the Yakima Greenway Foundation. Funds raised by Rock the Gap benefit the Greenway and Kiwanis charities.
